THE EPIC ADVENTURES OF FOX AND OWL

Introducing Fox and Owl – paper puppets created by artist Kari Percival – that you can take on an adventure!  We invite you to make art and tell a story with Fox, Owl, and any characters you invent yourself for the FOX & OWL TINY FILM & PHOTO FESTIVAL later this the fall!
Everything you need is right here on this website and in your own imagination. Fox and Owl can have a fantastic adventure in your kitchen, backyard, during a family outing, or in a shoebox theater that you make yourself.

NEWS FLASH: Arlington International Film Festival will showcase videos from Fox and Owl!

Thanks to a new collaboration with the Arlington International Film Festival, your video may be selected for inclusion in their November program, Special Mention Category!

FIRST

Download, print, and cut out our Fox and Owl paper puppets. Make additional characters if you want, or use toys or other objects.

Make a short (20 seconds to one minute) video with our paper puppets for our FOX & OWL TINY FILM & PHOTO FESTIVAL later this summer.   Your video will be shown with videos made by other people in Arlington and beyond – get your friends involved!  Watch this sample by artist Sara Peattie, who used a homemade toy theater to take Fox and Owl on 3 super short adventures. We’re calling this: Fox and Owl say hello! Make art featuring Fox and Owl for your window, front door or porch.  Put Fox and Owl in a painting, drawing, collage or even sculpture. WHAT IS THE FOX FESTIVAL?

THE EPIC ADVENTURES OF FOX AND OWL continues the Fox Festival, a celebration of the Fox Library, our great community, creativity, our animal neighbors and the environment! The FOX has been our mascot for four years.  OWL joined our team in May when we interviewed Diane Welch, Arlington’s great Animal Control officer, and met her owl. Diane adopted Nuala – a Great Horned Owl – as a tiny owlet and now Nuala is Arlington’s animal ambassador. Learn more by watching our video interviews with Diane.
